I Still Believe
(Joe L. Murgo)

The doctor broke the bad news, as he entered the exam room
You’ll never walk again, based on the tests I’ve seen
And as her family stood there crying, in her wheelchair she said smiling
Let’s not make a little thing like this a big deal, because
I still believe

I still believe each morning sunrise will bring a better day
And I still believe there’s a shining star that will guide my way
I still believe that I can do anything that I set out to achieve
Oh, I still believe

Before the car wreck happened, she was all-state track team captain
And runner up, junior-high prom queen
She planned to study modern dance out in Tucson
Now she struggled just to put her clothes on
But she amazed everyone with her strength and her inner peace, she’d tell them
I still believe

I still believe each morning sunrise will bring a better day
And I still believe there’s a shining star that will guide my way
I still believe that I can do anything that I set out to achieve
Oh, I still believe

She saw the car run the red light
And the little boy in the road that rainy night
Still no one knows how to this day
She ran from the porch to push him away

"There’s a note I’d like to read you, her mom found in her bible,"
The preacher told the congregation at her eulogy
It says, "Though my body may be broken, my spirit stays strong knowing
That I’m going to make, a difference on this earth before I leave, because
I still believe"

I still believe each morning sunrise will bring a better day
And I still believe there’s a shining star that will guide my way
I still believe that I can do anything that I set out to achieve
Oh, I still believe
I still belive
I still believe
